The Doors Open at Sunset Pointé

The lights go up on a room that has been waiting for this. Sunset Pointé sits on the University Avenue arts corridor, behind a facade that gives away nothing — and then the doors open onto six thousand square feet of one continuous, modern floor, five chandeliers hung across the length of it, a fireplace at rest along the wall.

This is the venue of C&B Elegant Events, and it opens as the third of three peer disciplines under one roof: The Experience, The Venue, The Cuisine. Design, the room, and the kitchen answer to one another here. That is the architecture of the house.

How many guests does Sunset Pointé hold?

Three hundred fifty standing. Approximately two hundred seated. The ballroom runs roughly six thousand square feet across a single open floor.

That range is what makes the room versatile in a way large venues rarely are at this scale. A two-hundred-guest seated dinner reads full and intimate. A three-hundred-fifty-guest cocktail reception reads generous. The same floor does both.

What does the floor plan look like?

One wide-open room. A blank canvas, waiting to take the shape of your vision.

The evening can be composed in any order you want it: ceremony at one end, dinner turned in the middle, dancing where the tables were. Because the floor is uninterrupted, the sightline holds from anywhere in the room — every guest sees the moment that matters.

What is already in the room?

Five chandeliers and a fireplace, set into a modern design.

The chandeliers are the ceiling’s design, and they carry the room’s light on their own. Everything composed after that lives at eye level and below — the tablescape, the florals, the linen, the floor. It is a discipline that keeps the eye where the evening is happening.

The splendor of this luxurious space, adorned with chandeliers, crisp white walls, a fireplace, beautifully designed bathrooms, adjustable lighting, tall windows for natural light, and so much more, was the perfect venue that met my vision of brilliance and opulence for my guests!

Who else is in the building that night?

No one. Sunset Pointé holds one event at a time.

The entrance is yours. The floor is yours. The evening keeps its own pace, with no second celebration sharing a wall or a door. When the house is open for your occasion, the house is yours alone.

How does bar service work?

Bar service is composed for your event through a licensed mobile bartender operating under a day permit for the date.

This puts the bar entirely in your hands — the spirits, the signature pour, the way the list reads. Your planner composes it alongside the menu so the two arrive as one thing rather than two.

What about candlelight?

Flameless throughout, and it is the house standard.

Under five chandeliers, flameless candlelight does what open flame does across a long room — it holds low, warm, and steady from cocktails through the last dance, with no maintenance in the middle of your evening.

What about sound and screens?

AV is composed as its own service, specified to what the evening asks of it.

A program with a speaking portion, a tribute reel, or live music carries different requirements than a reception that only needs the room to sound right. Specifying it separately means the room gets exactly the setup the occasion requires.

What comes with the room, and what comes with the house

A venue rental is the ballroom: six thousand square feet, the chandeliers, the floor, the fireplace, the night to yourself. Clients who bring their own design team or planner take the room as it stands and compose everything within it.

The full house is the other way to arrive. The Experience brings design, planning, and coordination — Crystal Chapman’s eye on the composition from first conversation through the last guest out. The Cuisine brings Chapman’s Bistro, with Executive Chef Brian Chapman building the menu for this room, this guest list, this occasion. Three disciplines, one standard, one point of contact.

What kinds of events does Sunset Pointé host?

Weddings and receptions. Milestone celebrations. Corporate gatherings, galas, and nonprofit fundraisers. C&B Elegant Events holds MWBE and EServe certification, and counts Golisano Children’s Hospital and the Golisano Institute for Business & Entrepreneurship among its partners.

Where is Sunset Pointé?

1150 University Avenue, Rochester, New York — on the University Avenue arts corridor, minutes from downtown.

The house is open

Crystal Chapman has spent her career deciding what elegance looks like in a room. Sunset Pointé is that judgment built into four walls: the proportions, the light, the one uncompromising eye over every detail of it.

Her mother, Sherry Faniel, said it first. That’s not an expense. That’s an investment. It is the line the whole house is built on — the belief that an occasion of real consequence deserves to be composed, and that what you put into it comes back in what your guests carry out the door.
